Sunburned

Yesterday Jennifer went canoeing on the Tickfaw. After spending a weekend at the beach and wearing plenty of sun screen, she over did it yesterday. She had sun screen with her but it got left in the car as they proceeded to get "lost" on the river for 5 hours.

It will be interesting to see how she is doing when she gets up today!

Ocean View

Here are some views from the hotel. Standing on the balcony looking left is the ocean. Straight ahead is the pier. Turning to the right you first see the public parking then farther right you can see the bridge back towards Pensacola. Of course, straight down you could see the pool area.

In the lower left you can see the balcony banister

The pier

Opposite the ocean side of the hotel beside us, you can see the public parking

The red roof is the older part of the Hilton. We were in the tower. In the distance you can see the bridge going back toward Pensacola.

Looking straight down you can see the pool area and some of the balconies below us.

Weekend in Florida

Jennifer and I went to Florida for the weekend so we could attend Avery's Confirmation. I know Jennifer had a wonderful time. She has never really been to the beach. The fact that she didn't get herself sunburned (which was my biggest fear) made the weekend even better.

Carol and I really enjoyed the balcony. We were on the 8th floor and had a great view of the beach. We enjoyed watching the sunset.

The main reason for the trip was Avery's Confirmation. Here are some picture of Carol and her family after mass. Of course, I made the three kids stand against the wall for some pictures. Lawrence was the most cooperative of the three.

Sunday Concert at the Catholic Church

The acoustics are wonderful at the Catholic Church. So, on Sunday they record their songs there. Here are some of the recordings I made.
**********
This is "Dome Pais" which they sing in French so even if you could understand it a bit better, you still wouldn't know what they are saying!

These next two song are sung acapella (no accompaniment). The first one breaks into a 4 part round while the second has harmony.

I know you have heard this one before but I love the way they break into parts and it sounds like an echo. I don't see how they do this without messing up.

Ms. Barbara always ends her Spring Concert with a patriotic song. She said she wanted to record this one because she was going to submit it so maybe they could sing at the Washington National Cathedral next summer.

Guess that is enough for now.

Mother's Day Hello!

Happy Mother's Day...

Chris, Amber, and Evelynne came over to fix breakfast. Philip, Misti, and Arrianna joined us. They brought Onnalise(sp?), who is Misti's niece. We had a nice visit.

Spring Choir Concert

Three of the kids were involved this year. Will add more later.....

Usually there are musicians that accompany the singers on certain song above and beyond the pianist. On one of the songs Ms. Barbara got one of the senior girls from the choir to play the flute. She then heard Jenny play on Tues. at rehearsal and subsequently asked her to play also. Jen was given the "solo" opening, middle, and closing flute part. The other girl played while the children sang. The picture is not very good but you can hear fairly well.

Chris played guitar while one of the groups sang a song called Guitar Man. You can not hear him too well but enough. There is also a piano music and a drummer. Oh yes, the picture is horrible.

In addition to the regular end of the year concert they added a selection from the play earlier this year. Picture is pretty good except for the distance.

Here is a little from the Chorale. Jenny is on the back, row third from the far right.

This is part of one of the songs.

Here is another one.

And one more. (The Chorale is singing again on Sunday at the Catholic Church. The sound is really nice. I may try to record some more.)

One final picture of the trio!

May 2, 2010 @ Elizabeth's House

I went over to see Elizabeth and the girls. Mike went yesterday but I was running with Jennifer so I was unable to go. Here are some pictures I took.

Jenny is holding Natalie and Gracie is playing with a broken phone.

Elizabeth is singing Ring-Around-the-Rosies to the girls.

They decided they wanted to wear "neckties" like daddy. Actually they are wearing the curtain tie backs. Gracie on left and Natalie on the right. Natalie's hair is curly in the back.

Jennifer is a Party Animal!

Jennifer was invited to a birthday party. She is going as Will's "date". As the event approaches I am getting a little apprehensive..... I thought the party was in the subdivision where Will's dad lives. I found out this evening it is in Baton Rouge. As I am getting ready to upload pictures I find out that Will's friend, Nick, is picking up Will and then coming over here to get Jennifer. They will go to Nick's house to take pictures then.... I thought Will's mom was driving. I may be wrong again. Even Jenny doesn't know if Nick is driving or Nick's mom. We will find out soon.
And I thought I had nailed down this event and its particulars!

Oh, it is a masquerade party. And it is raining. She got her hair done. I had to add straps to the dress.

It is now 11:00 and Jennifer is home. She said she had fun. It was like a school dance. Here are some pictures of Jenny after she left the house. The other two kids are Nick and his brother. The picture was taken at Nick's house.

And of course we had to get a picture of the mask she got. Isn't she lovely!
