Friday night we had our Christmas party at church. I guess it shows that I am getting old. I really didn't want to go and sit through the same old same old. Well, Jennifer had to be there so I picked myself up and went since Mike wasn't home (he had to go out of town and hadn't make it home yet).
Well, I have to admit, there was some thought put into it. There was no mad rush of little kids to the food table. When it was time for the desserts to be put out, they reminded parents to keep their kids from rushing. Also, some of the ladies with children, stayed at the dessert table and helped so the kids didn't take a plate full and not leave any for the rest of the people. After eating they had a short program. The youth were involved rather than the children. They kept it short and to the point. Jennifer had to sing Silent Night so I figured I'd try to video it. Of course, I missed the first part since I wasn't paying close attention. Here is what I did get.

The Rest of the Concert
Jennifer's choir had to sing all their songs again today (Sunday) at the local Catholic church. The church has wonderful sound. I videoed the rest of their songs today.
This is the processional and 2 other songs that are part of a series of songs from "A Ceremony of Carols" by Benjamin Britten. The third song sounds like you are in an echo chamber. It is one of my favorites. The actual pieces are Procession, There Is No Rose, and This Little Babe.
Well, after waiting 7 hours for it to upload I finally tried to put it on YouTube. Here is the link:
Here is the next song. This is He Shall Feed His Flock from "Messiah" by George Frideric Handel.
I realized this video is almost as long so I uploaded it to YouTube also. Here is the link.
This one is called Personent Hodie arranged by John Leavitt.
The next one is called Nino Lindo (Traditional Italian Carol) arranged by Ruth Boshkoff.
Here is the finale again. This time since only the Chorale was singing, Ms. Barbara got the adults to sing along so the choir had someone to bounce their harmonizing off of. You notice the was an older lady behind me who was singing loudly.

Christmas Choir Concert
Friday night we got some snow flurries. Just the right kind of weather for a Christmas concert.
Here are some pictures of the snow. They were taken by a lady named Judi who lives next door to Paul and Elizabeth.

And now for some music. The first video is actually the finale. You can not always make out all the words but you can hear the music. The other three are some of the other songs the Chorale sang.
She sings again on Sunday at the Catholic Church in Denham Springs. They will be recording the music. The church also has great "sound" as in the shape of the building makes singing sound wonderful. I'll try to record my favorite song on that night.
Oh, and yes, she got Will to come and listen. His mom, step-dad, and step-sister were there also. Afterwards they all went out to eat while Mike and I came home.

Misti is Talented
Misti is very talented. She is an amazing applique-er. She has made a couple of quilts and other items with many appliqued pieces. Currently she is working on a quilt for a friend. As you can see the theme is "The Grinch". She has finished 2 happy Grinches and 2 angry Grinches and the one Cindy Lou Who. She will be using these 5 figures in her quilt. Neat!

Thanksgiving Videos
After the girls were finished eating they needed to be entertained......
Here is another video of the girls playing with Jenny's phone.
This video was taken after the girls had napped. Grandma/Grandpa R. had called and they were talking to Philip. He then hands the phone to me during the video.
And finally a sideways video of Jenny dancing with Gracie.

Thanksgiving Day 2009
Thanksgiving Day we went to Paul and Elizabeth's in the afternoon to eat. We brought the turkey and rolls and Elizabeth provided the vegetables and the table. We enjoyed having a chance to see the girls, Phil and Misti. The girls were hungry so Elizabeth went ahead and got them started.

This is the peach pie Elizabeth made. It was picture perfect! It was also delicious!

Jennifer was the first one to fill her plate.

Phil and Misti getting ready to eat. They had already been to her mother's so Phil ate and she just sat with us.
After eating turkey, the girls got down and played for quite a while. Paul was slowly spinning them in the chair. They loved it.

Jennifer was having fun letting the girls play with her phone.

Natalie playing before her nap.
Eventually the girls went down for a nap. When the girls nap, Gracie usually wakes up in a bad mood, according to Elizabeth. Sure enough, Gracie was cross when she got up.

Natalie was much happier than Grace when she got up.
Natalie was getting hungry so Elizabeth was trying to get her something to eat.
After they ate they headed to the bathroom since it was getting late. Paul was helping to get the girls bathed for the night while Elizabeth was changing Natalie.

Thanksgiving at the Miller's in Mamou
We went to Mamou on Saturday to visit with Mike's folks, sisters, and brother(wife and kids included). Jennifer brought her friend Will with us. We stopped on the way and got some boudin balls and pork rinds at a gas station that has great boudin. If you don't know what boudin is then think of a sausage casing stuffed with spicy meat and rice. The mixture is steamed in a large pot to heat it. It is pretty good but HOT! They take the boudin and roll it in a coating and then deep fry it to make boudin balls. Talk about good!!!
Here are some pictures of the get together. I added a video of Evelynne. Amber was trying to get her to "talk".

Jennifer's Talent Show
I was able to slip out and go watch Jennifer on Friday. She went first. She sang well but had a few slips. she lost her place on the keyboard. She didn't get too flustered. She laughed at herself and then just picked up and went on.

UpcomingTalent Show
The video is Jennifer sitting in my classroom with nothing to do because I am out on duty. She tried out for the talent show and will be singing this song and playing the keyboard. I'll try to get a copy of the show but for now here is a "practice".
Veterans Day
Jennifer sang at the program at her school on Veteran's Day. Of course I didn't have the camera turned to video at the beginning so you miss that part. Also, I didn't turn the camera so the video is sideways. I haven't figured out how to turn them on the computer.
Time Flies....
Here are some things that have taken place since last time I added to this blog.
Halloween
Elizabeth, with the help of a friend, made the girls costumes. They went up to our church for a Halloween get-together on Wednesday night . Paul even showed up!

Here is a close up of Natalie and Grace.
Here they are in their Halloween dresses. They were a gift from some of Elizabeth's friends.

On Saturday night Chris, Amber and Evelyne showed up at our house.

Evelyne was getting a bit warm so they pulled off her outfit. She still had on her face.

Homecoming
Meanwhile Jennifer was getting ready to go to her Homecoming dance. A "friend" asked her to go. I use the term friend since she has known this boy since 7th grade. She has since told me that they are "dating". They have gone to the movies with Chris and Amber. (We got to babysit that night.) She also went to the Haunted House on Friday the 13th. They blackout the place and all you have are small finger flashlights. Again Chris went with them because Amber wasn't feeling well.

Evelynne Day 2
It is amazing the fuss we make over a new baby. I guess it is because they are such wonderfully beautiful little spirits. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all be like a newborn, totally innocent and carefree.

Jennifer and Mike were excited to see Evelynne for the first time. They were so amazed with her perfection (and hair).

I had to have another picture of the whole family. Amber doesn't remember much from yesterday's picture taking session.

Finally, the star of the show. She had been a bit fussy when we held her but daddy got her calmed down. I don't think it will take Evelynne very long to have her daddy wrapped around her little finger!

BIRTH-DAY!!
Well Evelynne is finally here. After an eventful day of hard labor, Amber was finally induced. Now Amber and Chris are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl. Here are a few pictures of the event. (It is amazing how things have changed over the years. There were probably at least 6 adults in the room the whole time the nurse was taking care of Evelynne.)

Chris was unable to be in the delivery room since they had to put Amber under. They brought Evelynne to him while Amber went to recovery.

Does this look like a proud daddy or what! Amber told him nobody else could hold her till she got her hands on Evelynne. That sounded like a pretty good idea to me.

The nurse is getting ready to give her a bath and wash her hair. Notice the odd item hanging from her cord. It is one of those devices that sets off an alarm if the child is removed from the hospital.

She has had her first bath. You can see her hair and she has a lot of it. Also, her head is a bit misshapen at the moment. Her cone head is a result of her not making her way into the world properly! She was stubborn. Does that remind you of someone?

Now this is a cute picture of her. Amber won't need tape to put a bow on that head. (I think Elizabeth was a bit jealous.)

She had her mouth open most of the time I was there, looking for something to latch onto. She was also letting us know she had had enough poking and prodding!

We moved upstairs to Amber's room. I really like Christopher's face here. It reminds me of many of the pictures I have of Chris as a child.

Here is another good picture of daddy and daughter. Amber's father is in the background.

Amber finally got to hold Evelynne. She was still a bit groggy. I was surprised at how quickly she made it out of recovery and up to her room.

I finally got a picture of all of them. Chris was trying to get some close ups of Amber and Evelynne so I figured it was a good time to get the three of them.
